Print the Color by Numbers Octopus as a simple reinforcement activity. Provide a target word or words, and ask the child to produce it 1, 2, 3… times before they color in (or fill in with a dauber/cover with chips) the suckers on the octopus legs with the corresponding color.
Use the Color by Numbers Octopus to teach and reinforce the basic preschool concepts of colors. For older children, ask them to find and correctly say 1, 2, 3… words that include their target sound around the room (or to think of them themselves) before they color.
You can also use this activity to reinforce language concepts. Have children produce 1, 2, or 3... items within a category or to answer questions about ocean animals, the sea, the beach, etc.
